July 8, 2004... Angelina Jolie gets a new tattoo.

Photo of Angelina Jolie and her new tiger tattooActress Angelina Jolie is seen getting a tattoo of a tiger from a Thai tattoo artist Sompong Kanphai during her visit to Bangkok on July 8, 2004. Angelina Jolie, who was in Thailand after her visit to Cambodia, got the 8 inch wide by 12 inch long tiger tattoo on her lower back. Picture taken July 8, 2004. REUTERS

Angelina is one of my personal favorite actors.  I think my interest in her goes back to the HBO movie, Gia.

Besides the fact she's incredibly sexy and looks as good in the nude as she does clothed, she also has a unique personality.  Just unconventional enough to make her even sexier.

Then she started with Billy Bob Thornton and things went down hill.  I'm not blaming him, he's a talented actor, and just weird and ugly enough to make Angelina more interesting.  It made every guy might me (only slightly better looking than Billy Bob) think we had a chance at dating a woman like that.

Next thing you know, she's divorcing him, flying to third-world countries, and practically adopting them.  Don't get me wrong, I'm all for rich people and famous people saving the world, but she's taking her crusade into weirdness.

The last couple interviews with her that I've seen have been her ranting nonsense-ically.  She literally talked about Cambodia, Billy Bob, drinking blood, and Buddhism in one long drifting sentence.

She almost reminded me of Courtney Love, without the heroin eyes. Anyhow, I hope she gets her stuff together, because she's got talent, beauty, and a little charisma left.

Update... July 24, 2004

A loyal SunFyre reader sent another picture, this one is a close up of the tiger.  You can see in the photo how Angelina Jolie's nude back is quite red from what looks like hours of tattooing.  Thanks to Eric F.

SunFyre's Top 10 Angelina Jolie Movies

  1. Girl, Interrupted - Terrific movie.  I saw this one in the theater because I had been on a Winona Ryder kick.  Angelina Jolie was fantastic and stole the show from the supporting role.  If you've never seen it, rent it.  If you like it as much as I do, buy it at Amazon.
  2. Gia - An HBO drama based on the life of supermodel Gia Marie Carangi from age 17 to her death in 1986 at age 26 from AIDS.  She stars as Gia.  It's #2 not because of excessive nudity and a lesbian scene, but they didn't hurt either.
  3. Pushing Tin - Angelina's first movie with Billy Bob, I think it's how they met.  She's good, not fantastic, but the movie isn't really about her.  It makes #3 because it's just generally a good movie.
  4. Gone in Sixty Seconds - A great remake of a cult classic.  She stars with Nicholas Cage in a sexy film about grand theft auto.
  5. The Bone Collector - Not a overall terrific movie, but this thriller features Denzel Washington as quadriplegic.  I bump any movie up a notch or two that features a hero in a wheelchair!
  6. Life or Something Like It -   A fun movie where Angelina Jolie is told by a soothsayer that she's got only days to live.
  7. Foxfire - A sexy coming-of-age movie.  Not terrific, but the tattoo scene makes it worth a watch
  8. Hackers -  She's a hot computer geek.
  9. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life - I put these two together in ninth.  They probably deserved higher, but honestly I haven't seen them yet.  I'm going based on my enjoyment of the Tomb Raider video game.
  10. Original Sin - Kind of a crappy movie, but has a very hot sex scene.  Make sure to rent the unrated version.
