Feb. 26, 2005... Happy Birthday Grandma

Happy Birthday, Grandma! My Great Grandma is turning 80 tomorrow.  I'm going to her party tonight.  It's not a surprise party, at 80 years old it might be a surprise coronary!

In other news... we bought a house!  I'll post pictures this weekend.

In other news... I've been offered an opportunity with a new client that could be huge.  I've been spending my evening hours writing proposals rather than blog entries.  Sorry.

Only 17 of you slackers took my Super Bowl Commercials Survey.  You still have two more days, so take the survey if you haven't already.  I'll post the completely unscientific results Monday.

Finally, my kids gave up their binkies...  big news in our house.  Next week I'll teach you how to wean your kids the Wrong Way.

Feb. 9, 2005... Super Bowl Commercials Survey

Advertisers spent up to $2.4 million for a 30-second Super Bowl commercial.  A few days has gone by, and I'm interested to know what you, SunFyre readers, retained.  Do you remember which beer you were supposed to buy?  Which brands of soda should you be drinking?  Which search engine should you be using?

Super Bowl Commercials SurveyEvery year news organizations and websites report on which Super Bowl ads were our favorites, or which Super Bowl ads made us laugh hardest.  But let's face it, if I'm paying a couple million dollars, I want a substantial return on my investment.  I want new customers to buy for the first time, and I want people who use my competitors to switch.

Feb. 7, 2005... Patriots topple the Eagles

Well, New England and Dion Branch knocked off the Eagles, but Philadelphia definitely made it interesting.

The whining has already started where I live.  They couldn't exactly complain about Donovan McNabb considering he threw over 300 yards.  Terrell Owens was clearly healthy and contributed.  Brian Westbrook gained almost 100 yards and scored.  And the defense held the Patriots to 24 points, which is no small feat.

All I'm hearing from the neighbors is how poor the clock management was.  They had to march the entire length of the field in the last minute, and score.  Had they hurried, and turned the ball over, fans would have been complaining that the Eagles should have been patient.

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for being closer to NFL champions than any other Eagles team since the Super Bowl Era began.  Going to four consecutive NFC championship games is a major accomplishment, especially into today's league.  They were simply slightly out-played by a slightly better team.  SunFyre applauds you.

And congratulations to Bob Kraft and his New England Patriots for building the first dynasty of the 21st century.

Feb. 6, 2005...  Frightened neighbor sues teens over late-night gift — and wins

DURANGO, Colo. - Two teenage girls who surprised their neighbors with homemade cookies late one night were ordered to pay nearly $900 in medical bills plus court costs for a woman who says she was so startled that she had to go to the hospital.

Feb. 5, 2005...  Philadelphia Eagles on Super Bowl Eve

'Twas the night before the Big Game and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a green and white mouse.

Philadelphia Eagles Fans Get Ready for the Super BowlThree years ago was the first time Philadelphia and it's suburbs caught Super Bowl fever.  In 2001 it was impossible to find any Eagles merchandise on the shelves.  Six of every 10 cars had football helmet window clings or those clip-on flags with the Philadelphia Eagles emblem.

Feb. 4, 2005... Football Funnies

In honor of the Super Bowl this Sunday, this week's issue of Friday Funnies is dedicated to football and football fans.    Last week I asked for football jokes and you certainly responded.

Thanks to Stephen for the John Elway joke.  Thanks to Chris, a Patriots fan, for "My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad".  Thanks to Meghan and Miranda who both sent the "Touchdown" joke. Thanks to Joey from New York for "Football Fan to the Rescue" and thanks to CavaliersFan for "UVa Vs. VT".  Thanks to Conklin for "true football fan" and thanks to Ellen for "Animal Super Bowl."

Finally, thank you to Charles M. Schultz for years and years of laughter, particularly featuring Charlie Brown, Lucy and a football.

Feb. 3, 2005... Our new CEO

It pleases me greatly to introduce Meghan, a.k.a. "Sparky".  Sparky has been a SunFyre reader for several months, and took this opportunity to become world famous.

I interviewed Sparky using Microsoft Messenger late one night last week.  I determined through that interview that she was ideal for the position.  She is intelligent, funny, a little hot, and most importantly she had $25.00 to donate!

Feb. 1, 2005... New Game on Orisinal

A Daily Cup of TeaFerry Halim has posted a new game on Orisinal.  It's called A Daily Cup of Tea and you play the part of two mice trying to steal sugar cubes off shelves.  If you've never experienced a Ferry Halim game, you're probably thinking I'm losing my mind.  But, his Orisinal games are works of art.

First, every little flash game is stunningly beautiful with his unusual 3-D, almost Anime, style.  In today's world of complex and often violent games, he's proven that you can have simple and non gory games that are fun.  Finally in a era where Halim, himself, says "Nothing is Original" he offers incredibly original games.  No cookie cutter formula games here.  While a couple may remind you of others, none is a knock-off.
