This first group was taken by a helicopter crew for the North Carolina
Department of Transportation. They were examining extensive damage done to
Route 12 along the Outer Banks.
I apologize for the size of some of these, however they were far too
impressive to shrink much.

This photo was taken on the ground, standing on what used to be Highway 12.

The guy in sunglasses is named Dave. These photos were passed along
several generations of email forwards before they landed in my inbox. I'm
uncertain who took them originally, but would love to give them credit.
The next two photos were taken by people in New Bern, NC. The first
one appeared in the Durham newspaper, the second was taken by our reader,
Bettina Brinkley, a graduate student at ECU. Thanks, Bettina.

These were submitted by another loyal SunFyre reader from
Richmond VA. Ok, he also happens to be my sister's boyfriend. Thanks
Vincent Degennaro. (Or as I'm trying to teach my kids to say...
"Uncle Vinnie")

Lastly, thanks to Jennifer Tweed, my sister and a graduate student at
University of Virginia. She lives in Richmond.
